Real Madrid manager, Xabi Alonso has urged his team to look for chances and work hard when playing against an opponent.

Alonso spoke ahead of Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League tie with Manchester City on Wednesday.

The Spaniard watched as Real Madrid were defeated 2-0 against Celta Vigo in the LaLiga at home on Sunday.

Speaking at his post-match interview after the game, Alonso also called on his players not to wait for chances to come during an encounter against an opponent.

“We struggle breaking down deep blocks? Against these types of teams, we need to actually look for chances and work hard for them we, can’t wait for chances to come to us,” Alonso said.

He added, “The players’ effort and intensity tonight? Disappointing, to be honest.

“We were better with 10 men than with 11 tonight.

“Simply because at 10 men, at least we started running and working hard.”
