Bayern Munich attacker, Harry Kane has broken his fellow countryman, David Beckham’s Champions League record.

Kane achieved the feat after scoring a brace in Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.

Kane’s goals against the Blues took his tally of goal contributions in the Champions League to 53 (42 goals and 11 assists), a record for an English player in the history of the competition.

Beckham had held the record with his 52 goal contributions during his career as a professional footballer while playing for the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Kane, 32, has now surpassed Beckham, who retired from professional football in 2013.

Kane will now hope to lead Bayern Munich to victory when they face Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga in their match this weekend.
