UCL: Paul Merson identifies Arsenal player who has given Arteta headache

Arsenal legend, Paul Merson, has said that Myles Lewis-Skelly has given manager, Mikel Arteta a ‘major headache’ ahead of the Gunners’ Champions League semi-final second leg tie with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.

Merson spoke after Lewis-Skelly’s impressive display in Arsenal’s Premier League 3-0 win against Fulham on Saturday.

Recall that Lewis-Skelly started the game in a central midfield role, as goals from Viktor Gyokeres (2) and a goal from Bukayo Saka gave the hosts the victory.

When asked if Arteta should start Lewis-Skelly against Atletico Madrid next week, Merson told Sky Sports, “It’s a different kind of game, Fulham to Atletico Madrid.

“He’s given Mikel a headache, a major, major headache.

“He gave you that energy, he lifted everybody, he’s come in and lifted everybody, he played on the front foot, he got close to people.”

The Champions League semi-final first leg encounter between Arsenal and Atletico Madrid ended in a 1-1 draw last week in Spain.
