Ian Watkins Two inmates have been charged with murdring paedophile Lostprophets frontman, Ian Watkins. Rashid Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43, appeared before magistrates this morning.

The accused Watkins, 48, had been serving nearly three decades behind bars for a series of horrific child sex offences, including the attempted rape of a fan's baby daughter. He was pronounced de@d on Saturday morning after emergency services were called to HMP Wakefield in West Yorkshire. Today, Gedel and Dodsworth appeared expressionless in the dock at Leeds Magistrates' Court, where they each spoke only to confirm their names and ages. Both men were flanked by five court security guards during their short and separate hearings. No pleas were entered, and no application for bail was made. The pair were remanded in custody and will appear before Leeds Crown Court tomorrow. Since Watkins' murdr, more details have emerged about his time behind bars, including the singer's reported use of other inmates as paid protection. Watkins is said to have had his throat cut after prisoners came out of their cells. He is believed to have been living on a 'general' wing with some of Wakefield's most dangerous inmates - as opposed to one dedicated to sx offenders. A source has been quoted as saying 'it was as if [Watkins] knew his time was up'. HMP Wakefield is said to be concerned by a 'copycat' attack taking place and has carried out weapons searches. A prison van was seen leaving the category A facility on Saturday night. West Yorkshire Police confirmed today that Watkins had ded after being 'seriously assaulted'. The force said: 'Detectives have charged two men with murdr after the death of a prisoner at HMP Wakefield on Saturday. 'Ian Watkins, 48, was pronounced dead after being seriously assaulted at HMP Wakefield on Saturday morning. 'Rashid Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43, both of HMP Wakefield have both been charged with murder. 'They are due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court this morning.' It comes as one of Watkins' former girlfriends told the Daily Mail of her surprise it 'took so long' for the depraved frontman to be k!lled. Joanne Mjadzelics, who helped expose the sick paedophile, now suffers from PTSD and self-harm after being exposed to Watkins' vile behaviour. Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, she said: 'This is a big shock, but I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner. I was always waiting for this phone call. 'He was walking around with a target on his back from the first day he entered the prison. I have always been scared of him getting out and tracking me down or something, so this is a relief. 'I wanted him dead for a long time after everything he did. I am relieved, I feel like a weight has been lifted from my head. 'This is the second time someone has slashed his throat. I expected it to have happened earlier. He's been in there for almost 13 years.' Miss Mjadzelics added: 'The families of those poor victims will be rejoicing today. He's gone and they will be just as relieved as I am. Maybe now a new part of my life will begin. 'The man I fell in love with never existed. He manipulated me and that man who died today in prison was a stranger to me. I never loved him, he just put on a character.' The post
