A legal practitioner, Ekemini Udim, has expressed shocked about allegations linking a chieftain of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, to terrorism financing.

Speaking on Channels Television’s ‘The Morning Brief’ on Thursday, Udim said he had not heard Kwankwaso’s name being linked to terrorism.

DAILY POST reports that Kwankwaso has been targeted for sanctions by a legislation introduced by the US Congress, over his alleged role in promulgating the Sharia law.

Reacting, the legal practitioner said, “I’m surprised to see Rabiu Kwankwaso’s name in that list. I think the US needs to give us more clarifications.

“I have not really heard his name being bandied around terrorism, but maybe America has better information than Nigeria has not had over the years.

“Maybe the US is able to monitor activities of the former governor and minister and they now think there’s need to make it clearer for all of us in Nigeria to understand.”
