
Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu believes that his team deserved to beat the Banyana Banyana of South Africa, DAILY POST reports.
Nigeria claimed a 2-1 victory over their perennial rivals in the semi-finals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday night.
The Super Falcons dominated the first half and took the lead through captain Rasheedat Ajibade.
South Africa fought back after the break with Linda Motlhalo equalising from the spot.
Nigeria got the winning goal through Michelle Alozie late in the game.
Madugu admitted it was difficult encounter for his team.
“Yes, it was a tough game, no doubts about that. Everyone knew it wasn’t going to be an easy game,” the 61-year-old said after the game.
“At the end of it all, what we desired was to win, and eventually that happened, so we’re happy we’ll be playing the finals.”
Nigeria and Morocco will contest the final on Saturday.
