War: IRGC Navy Commander Tangsiri killed in Israeli strike

Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, announced on Thursday that an Israeli airstrike has killed Alireza Tangsiri, the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ Navy.

Tangsiri was killed during an Israeli strike on an Iranian naval base located in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas.

“Last night, in a precise and lethal operation, the IDF eliminated the commander of the Revolutionary Guards’ Navy, Tangsiri, along with senior officers of the naval command,” Katz said in a video statement.

He further alleged that Tangsiri was directly responsible for operations involving the mining and blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, adding that the commander was “blown up and eliminated” during the strike.

This comes amid the joint US-Israeli attacks on Iran which began exactly February 28. 2026 following the killing and elimination of several top Iranian officials.
