Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that his country is willing to help protect the United Arab Emirates from ongoing missile and drone attacks by Iran.
Zelenskyy held a meeting with Emirati President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and both nations agreed to collaborate on defence, as the Gulf state continues to face attacks from Iran.
Zelenskyy said that the two leaders agreed to cooperate on security and defence matters.
In a post on X, he said, “We discussed the security situation in the Emirates, Iranian strikes, and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which directly affects the global oil market.
“It’s important to stay steady and ensure that people are protected from the risks that are happening now. Ukraine has the required expertise in this field – our cities, sadly, have been under attack every day for four years of the full-scale war.
“Ukrainians have built a strong defence system that can block many enemy drones and missiles before they reach their targets. This methodical way of using experience is exactly what we provide to our partners.”
Ukraine has been fighting Russia in a war for four years, while the Israel–US conflict with Iran has gone on for five weeks.
Iran has been targeting nations in the Middle East that have US military bases.
