We are unmoved by Diri, Mbah’s defection to APC – ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has shrugged off the defections of the Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, and his Enugu State counterpart, Peter Mbah, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The two governors dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alongside members of the state House of Assembly and members of the State Executive Council on Wednesday.

The ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, said the 2027 would be between Nigerians and the governors “who deserted them politically.”

He, however, stated that Diri and Mbah’s defections confirmed the fears by the opposition that Nigeria was heading towards a one-party state.

He stressed that the governors joined the ruling party to pursue their personal ambitions.

The ADC spokesman urged the opposition governors to rise boldly, deliver fresh ideas, and lead citizens out of “national despair.”

“Their decision to defect is a betrayal, joining those they once opposed, leaving citizens in disbelief.

“They abandoned citizens not for principle or progress, but for selfish gain and convenience.

“As the ruling party celebrates these defections, ADC and opposition coalition celebrate a clearer divide between patriots seeking change and opportunists,” Abdullahi stated.
