President Donald Trump again on Sunday doubled down on his position on the alleged persecution and killing of Christians in Nigeria.
Trump told reporters that his administration would not allow the persecution and killing of Christians in Nigeria to happen.
The US President stated this on Sunday while heading back to the White House after a weekend at Mar-a-Lago.
“They’re killing records numbers of Christians in Nigeria…they’re killing the Christians, and killing them in very large numbers. We’re not going to allow that to happen,” Trump said.
DAILY POST reported that Trump last week designated Nigeria as a country of particular concern.
The US President cited what he described as ongoing violence against Christians and the failure of the government to protect religious minorities.
However, the Nigerian government vehemently denied persecution of any religious group in Nigeria.
Just on Saturday, Trump went ahead to threaten possible military action against Nigeria if nothing was done about the matter quickly.
He also threatened to halt all aid and assistance to Nigeria should President Bola Tinubu’s administration fail to end the alleged persecution and killing of Christians.
