Xiaomi has announced the Redmi A7 and A7 Pro, the latest refresh of its entry-level A lineup, and the new models aim to fix two of the biggest complaints about the A5 series: performance and screen quality.
Traditionally, phones in Xiaomi’s A series have focused on the basics for users who simply need a reliable device. In 2026, that approach appears to be changing.
The Redmi A7 Pro, in particular, feels more like a mid-range phone in a budget shell. With a large 6.7-inch display, a 120Hz refresh rate and a 6500mAh battery, it targets some of the features many Nigerian buyers look for first.
While the Redmi A7 series is a strong contender in the entry-level segment, it is not without compromises. Still, for the price, Xiaomi has raised expectations for what a budget phone can offer.
Performance Overview
One of the first things you notice about the Redmi A7 and A7 Pro is their size. At 6.7 inches, the A7 Pro sits firmly in the large-phone category. It can almost be described as a phablet, a device that blends the feel of a phone and tablet.
