Multiple communities in Yobe State were hit by devastating fire outbreaks that destroyed market stalls, homes, and food reserves, leaving families without shelter, livelihoods, and food.
The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA) disclosed this in a statement on Monday, indicating that the affected areas include Bukarti in Yunusari LGA, Fuchimiram and Kalgeri in Geidam LGA, and Gumsamari in Yusufari LGA.
According to the agency, Governor Mai Mala Buni has directed the mobilisation of immediate support for the victims, providing short- and mid-term relief to cushion their hardship.
“These are extremely difficult times for families whose primary sources of income and sustenance have been tragically disrupted,” the statement read.

As the harmattan season intensifies, YOSEMA urged residents to prioritise fire prevention measures in markets, homes, and public spaces to avert further incidents.
“Comprehensive assessments are underway to guide assistance,” it added.
