The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has issued a strong caution to Nigeria’s political class, particularly second-term governors and senior office holders, warning that divine consequences await anyone who sides with “betrayers.”
Wike delivered the warning on Saturday during the inauguration of the Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ secretariat in Port Harcourt. He argued that backing political disloyalty is a dangerous choice, insisting that those who encourage betrayal will ultimately become its victims.
Amid his ongoing political rift with his successor in Rivers State, the minister framed his remarks as a spiritual revelation, saying unseen forces would soon hold his critics accountable.
“Let me tell you one thing: today is the 7th of February. Whoever is watching, whether you are a senator, a House of Representatives member, a minister, or a governor, if you support betrayers, people will continue to betray you in life,” Wike said.
He warned that such betrayal would leave its victims emotionally and physically shattered, unable to defend themselves when the consequences arrive.
“Betrayal is your portion, and the day you will be betrayed, you will not have the mouth to say anything; there you will collapse. You will reap the seed that you planted.”
Reflecting on his own political journey, Wike noted that while it took time for his successor to turn against him, others would not be so fortunate. According to him, leaders who currently empower disloyal actors will face rebellion almost immediately from those they hope to install as successors.
“Watch every governor who is doing a second tenure, who has the ambition to put a successor and is supporting a betrayer, you will never survive it.
“The day your successor comes in, my own took some months; yours will start immediately. This is what the gods of the land have told me to tell you people,” he declared.
Wike stressed that loyalty in politics goes beyond strategy, describing it as both a moral and spiritual principle. He warned that those who violate it would be haunted by betrayal in every sphere of life.
He concluded by urging political leaders to take his message seriously, insisting that current events are simply the outcome of earlier decisions.
“You will reap it; whatever you sow, you will reap it,” he said.
