Professor Luqman Zakariyah, who presided over the wedding Fatiha of the children of the Minister of State for Defence, Mohammed Bello Matawalle, on Friday, referred to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a father to all and prayed that his administration would rekindle hope among the less privileged in society.
The prayers were offered during the multiple wedding ceremony held at the National Mosque in Abuja, which President Tinubu attended as a representative of the Matawalle family.
Also in attendance was the President of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, Carlos Manuel Vila Nova.
In his supplication, the cleric prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the President, whom he described as a representative and father to all the brides and grooms, sound health.
He further asked for divine blessings of long life, progress, and success for President Tinubu, expressing hope that his leadership would uplift those who feel forgotten.
“We pray to Almighty Allah to give our President, who is representing all, the father of all the brides and grooms, good health.
“We also ask Allah to grant our president long life, prosperity, and success during his presidency. We pray that his tenure will bring hope to the hopeless,” the Imam said.
Matawalle, a former governor of Zamfara State, gave five of his daughters, Maryam, Safiyya, Farida, Nana Firdausi, and Aisha, in marriage. Likewise, five of his sons, Ibrahim, Abdul Jalal, Surajo, Bello, and Fahad, also tied the knot.
President Tinubu formally received the brides into the Matawalle family on behalf of their parents.
The Imam additionally prayed for Allah’s blessings upon the unions, asking for harmony and success for the couples as they begin their marital lives and for divine favor upon their parents and grandparents.
The ceremony was witnessed by state governors, members of the National Assembly, Federal Executive Council members, service chiefs, diplomats, traditional rulers, religious figures, and numerous other dignitaries and well-wishers.
