The Taraba State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents during the festive season.
The announcement was made on Monday in a statement by the Command’s acting spokesperson, Victor Mshelizah, who also revealed a total ban on the use, sale and distribution of firecrackers across the state.
“Under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimeyin, the Command is deploying intensified security strategies, including increased patrols, intelligence gathering, and strategic deployments in high-risk areas such as markets, places of worship, and major highways.
“These measures aim to prevent criminal activities and ensure a safe and peaceful celebration for all residents,” the statement read.
He said the directive aligns with instructions from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
The Command urged residents to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary night travel, and seek police approval for large gatherings during the festive period.
“The ban on firecrackers, effective immediately, is intended to prevent fire hazards, noise disturbances, and potential misuse by criminal elements. Violators risk arrest and prosecution, as firecrackers pose a significant threat to public safety,” the Command emphasized.
The Police Command stressed that public cooperation is crucial to the success of security operations and encouraged citizens to report suspicious activities or threats to the nearest police station.
Reiterating its commitment to a peaceful festive season, the Command called on residents, community leaders, and stakeholders to collaborate in promoting safety and harmony across the state.
