A chieftain the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Zamfara State, Abdullahi Shinkafi, has described the defection of the state governor, Dauda Lawal, to the party as a welcome development.
Shinkafi said Lawal’s defection is a crucial step that will enhance unity, stability and strengthen the APC’s influence within the state, asserting that the party is poised to secure victory in the 2027 governorship election.
The former governorship candidate made these remarks while welcoming Lawal into the APC following the governor’s announcement of his defection on Monday.
He stated that Governor Dauda Lawal’s choice to join the ruling party reflects a dedication to collaboration and collective efforts aimed at improving the welfare of the populace and accelerating development within the state.
He added that the APC serves as an inclusive platform that embraces leaders and stakeholders who are sincerely devoted to good governance, peace, and sustainable development.
Shinkafi urged party members, supporters, and the citizens of Zamfara State to warmly welcome the Governor and collaborate in a spirit of unity and progress for the benefit of both the state and the nation as a whole.
He reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives that foster peace, development, and the consolidation of democracy in Zamfara State.
Shinkafi expressed confidence that the APC will triumph in the forthcoming elections in Zamfara State and will ensure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, just as it did in the 2023 presidential race.
He encouraged party members to put aside their political differences and work towards the party’s growth within the state.
He also called on eligible citizens to engage in the ongoing INEC voter registration, obtain their permanent voter cards, and vote in large numbers for the APC in all elections to ensure the continuity of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which has established the groundwork for economic prosperity, national security and unity.
