The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has called on Governor Dauda Lawal to reinstate over 3,000 civil servants recently disengaged from the state workforce.
The party made the call in a statement issued on Monday in Gusau by its Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris.
According to the statement, the affected workers include teachers, health personnel, and other civil servants from the 14 local government areas of the state.
Idris described the mass disengagement as “arbitrary,” alleging that the affected employees had earlier passed the government’s verification exercise before being asked to stop work.
He said many of the workers had spent between 10 and 20 years in service and had large families depending on them.
The APC spokesman urged the state government to reconsider its decision, warning that the mass sack could worsen hardship and insecurity in the state.
