A notorious bandit leader known as “Mala’ikan Mada”, identified as Kachalla Haire, has reportedly been killed during a clash between rival armed groups in Zamfara State.

The development was disclosed in a post shared on X on Sunday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

According to the report, the incident occurred on May 8 after a disagreement broke out among bandit factions over the sharing of valuables linked to a deceased gang leader.

The dispute was said to have escalated into a gun battle between the rival groups, leading to the death of Haire and several other fighters.

Sources said the deceased had been operating around the Mada axis in Gusau Local Government Area and was linked to a number of attacks, kidnappings and killings in the area.

Residents in some affected communities were said to have expressed relief over the development, describing him as one of the figures behind years of fear and insecurity.

The report noted that the incident reflects growing internal conflicts among bandit groups in Zamfara and other parts of the North-West.

It added that security forces have continued to intensify operations, including intelligence-led missions and coordinated assaults, in a bid to curb the activities of armed groups across the region.
