Zamfara governor formally joins APC

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to the fight against terrorism in Zamfara State.

Shettima gave the assurance in Gusau, when he formally received Governor Lawal Dauda into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said the federal government would deploy adequate security personnel and equipment to tackle insecurity in the North-West state.

He congratulated Lawal for joining the APC and assured him of the federal government’s support in the efforts to develop the state.

“The federal government will do everything humanly possible to get rid of the marauding bandits who have been terrorising the people of the state.

“We will give necessary assistance and support to Governor Dauda Lawal to continue with the good work he has started”.

“I am calling on the good people of the state to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Dauda Lawal in the 2027 general élections,” the Vice President stated

On his part, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, announced  his withdrawal from the 2027 governorship race.

“I have withdrawn my intention to contest for the governorship election, and I will wholeheartedly help my brother, Governor Dauda Lawal, to be reelected in 2027,” the ex-governor declared at the event.

In his remark, Lawal promised to continue his developmental programmes in the state.

He thanked APC stakeholders in the state for supporting his switch to the party.
