2026 World Cup: Klopp set to replace Nagelsmann as Germany head coach

Former Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, is set to replace Julian Nagelsmann as the head coach of the Germany national team.

Klopp, who is currently the Sporting Director at Red Bull, is believed to be keen on the role.

The 59-year-old has now coached a team since leaving Liverpool in the summer of 2024.

Nagelsmann has been sacked by the German FA, following a poor outing at the 2026 World Cup.

Germany’s loss on penalties to Paraguay marked the third straight early World Cup exit for the four-time champions, after group stage eliminations in Russia and Qatar.

Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, wrote on X: “Jürgen Klopp would be open to considering return to management if German Federation decide to call him.

“Nagelsmann wants to stay but final decision in DFB hands, Klopp would be open to listening and keen on project.”
