The Executive Director of Development Specs AcademyProf Okey Ikechukwu, says the defection of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is a conspiracy to split Southern votes in the next year’s general elections.

Ikechukwu made this statement on Thursday when he appeared as a guest in an interview on Arise Television.

He was reacting to the defection of Makinde to the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, and his subsequent declaration for presidency in the party.

“Makinde defecting to the APM is a conspiracy to split Southern votes. Well, before we go into whether it’s a multi-party system, there’s one critical issue.

“That issue is the total destruction of the PDP. The factionalization is so strong that right now you can’t say which is the PDP.

“Whether Makinde chooses to go to the moon and back, whether the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and his group decide to deploy everything for the election, one obvious thing is PDP will not be a national force.

“They will not be particularly impactful and may end up not fielding a candidate for 2027. And if they should come up with a candidate, it will be in order to split votes,” he said.
