2026 World Cup: Tunisia appoint Renard after sacking Lamouchi

2 weeks ago 5

Tunisia have appointed Herve Renard as their new head coach, after they sacked Sabri Lamouchi only one game into the 2026 World Cup.

Lamouchi was fired just hours after Tunisia’s 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening Group F fixture on Monday.

Renard will arrive in Mexico on Tuesday and will take charge of their training session.

The 57-year-old was sacked by Saudi Arabia in April, bringing his second stint with the national team to an end.

Renard managed Morocco at the 2018 World Cup and Saudi Arabia in 2022, overseeing their victory over eventual winners Argentina.

He also coached France at the 2023 Women’s World Cup and Zambia and Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2012 and 2015 respectively.
