Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said on Wednesday the 2027 presidential election would be his final attempt to rule Nigeria
Atiku, who spoke on Arise Television, said he would not take part in future elections because of age.
The former Vice President will turn 80 in 2027.
He is vying for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket alongside other key opposition figures such as former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and ex-Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi.
Atiku lost in last two presidential elections in 2019 and 2023 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
When asked by the moderator about his political aspiration beyond the next election, the ADC chieftain simply said: ” Because of age and the fact that the stakes are higher, I believe that 2027 will be my last outing.”
