Sanusi Bature, spokesman of Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has declared that the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, is no longer a formidable political platform.
Bature disclosed this while appearing on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday.
He noted that members of the Kwankwasiyya movement, including Governor Abba had to defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, because the NNPP was no longer formidable.
According to Bature: “Initially in January we defected out of the NNPP and not Kwankwasiyya movement as mentioned earlier and the ideology of Kwankwasiyya has been adopted as the system of governance in Kano State because Kwankwaso was one of the pillars in the state that worked for the present administration.
“But in politics, you need to understand the context before the content. We are fully aware that NNPP is no longer a formidable political platform for the 2027 election.
“So there was an agreement between the critical stakeholders, including Kwankwaso himself that we should find a lasting solution against 2027 because NNPP can’t fly.
“So with Kwankwaso’s consent we decided to approach Tinubu as the first option.”
