Police on Monday arraigned a 36-year-old man, Kennedy Mburuche, at the Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for alleged assault of a staff of the Eko Elelctricity Distribution Company (EKEDC).
Mburuche was arraigned on a two-count charge of assault and breach of peace.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Esther Adesulu told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 22, at James Oyelekan Street in Ilogbo, Ajangbadi, Lagos.

She alleged that the defendant assaulted one Mudashiru Yusuf, a staff of EKEDC while he was performing his lawful duty.
The prosecutor said Mburuche also caused a breach of peace by threatening the complainant’s life with a broken bottles and stone.
The offences, Adesulu said, contravened the provisions of sections 168 and 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

He later adjourned the case till June 15 for mention.
