‘Everybody hates you’ - Trump yells at Netanyahu over Lebanon escalation

1 week ago 5
US President Donald Trump reportedly told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he was fucking crazy and warned that everybody hates Israel after Iran suspended peace talks over Israels planned attacks on Beirut. American officials cited in reports described the phone call as expletive-laden, saying Trump strongly confronted Netanyahu and warned that additional attacks on Lebanon could further isolate Israel internationally. Summarizing Trumps remarks, one official quoted him as saying: Im saving your ass. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this. Another source claimed Trump shouted during the conversation: What the fuck are you doing? Two officials also said Trump accused Netanyahu of ingratitude, referencing the Israeli leaders ongoing corruption trial and previous public comments where Trump suggested Netanyahu should receive a pardon. The reported exchange came shortly after Irans Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced it had suspended negotiations and indirect communications over Netanyahus plans to continue attacks on Beiruts southern suburb, Dahieh. Initially responding to Irans decision, Trump reportedly said: I dont care if theyre over, honestly... I really dont care. I couldnt care less. Following the call, Trump announced on social media that no troops would be heading to Beirut and claimed forces already moving toward the area had been turned back. He also stated that he had a very good call with Hezbollah regarding a ceasefire arrangement. They agreed that all shooting will stop that Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel, Trump said. Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah later stated that the group supported a full ceasefire across Lebanon, saying such an agreement should eventually lead to a complete Israeli troop withdrawal from Lebanese territory. Fadlallah also said Hezbollah rejected a limited truce proposal that would have prevented attacks on Beirut in exchange for halting Hezbollah operations in northern Israel. Lebanons presidency later confirmed that Hezbollah had agreed to a US-backed proposal involving a mutual cessation of attacks across Lebanon. Netanyahu, however, maintained Israels position. I spoke with President Trump and told him that if Hezbollah does not cease attacking our cities and citizens, Israel will attack terror targets in Beirut. This stance of ours remains unchanged, Netanyahu wrote on X. Trump later told NBC that Iran had not contacted him directly since suspending negotiations. I think weve been talking too much if you want to know the truth. I think going silent would be very good, and that could be for a long time, he said. He added that silence did not necessarily mean military escalation, insisting sanctions and blockades remained tools available to Washington. Despite earlier comments, Trump later posted on social media that talks with Iran were continuing at a rapid pace. The post Everybody hates you - Trump yells at Netanyahu over Lebanon escalation appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
