ADC declares ex-NPA MD, Omar Suleiman Adamawa governorship candidate

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has declared a former Managing Director of the Nigeria Ports Authority, NPA, Omar Suleiman, as winner of the Adamawa State governorship primary of the party.

In a ceremony on Tuesday in Yola, the Adamawa ADC Governorship Primary Committee which organised the election announced local government by local government results that placed Suleiman above two other aspirants who competed in the primary.

The results from the state’s 21 LGAs showed that Suleiman polled a total of 143,216 votes; as against the 56,801 votes obtained by his closest rival, Hamman Tukur Modibbo.

Third-placed Umar Suleiman Uba received a total of 20,343 votes.

After the votes were announced, chairman of the ADC primary election committee for the state, Dr Nicholas Msheliza pronounced Omar Suleiman as the duly elected governorship candidate for the state.

The ADC governorship candidate is a former NPA MD who also served as Nigeria’s ambassador the to Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC.

While declaring the intention to run for the office of governor, Suleiman had unveiled an agenda that placed emphasis on job creation and youth empowerment.
