Zulte Waregem midfielder, Tochukwu Nnadi has said he plays the way top defensive midfielders like Moisés Caicedo, N’Golo Kante, Sofyan Amrabat, and Wilfred Ndidi do.
Talking to reporters, the 22-year-old showed happiness about joining the Super Eagles team for the current two-year tournament.
The former Flying Eagles midfielder explained that his style of play focuses on being aggressive, staying calm, and being smart when moving the ball and when defending, traits he really likes in the players he watches closely.
“It’s been a nice two weeks being with them. I enjoy being aggressive both when I’m not holding the ball and when I am.
“I stay calm like Moise Caicedo and Ngolo Kante, and also like Amrabat, I watch him a lot, and I also look at Wilfred Ndidi,” he told Nigerian reporters in Morocco.
Nnadi, who was a surprise choice to be in the 28-player team for the tournament, also remembered the emotional moment he learned he was on the final list.
“I was on call with my dad, and a friend sent me a message on Instagram to congratulate me. Then I went to Instagram to check the Nigeria Super Eagles page and I saw my name there.
“I’m not someone who usually shows a lot of emotion, but at that moment, I really wanted to cry.”
Nigeria finished in Group C with all nine points having beaten Uganda 3-1 in the last group fixture on Tuesday.
