A former Executive Secretary of the National Agricultural Land Development Authority, NALDA, and an All Progressives Congress chieftain, Paul Ikonne, has asked Abia State Governor, Alex Otti to apologize immediately for his outburst at a journalist.
Ikonne made this demand in a statement by his spokesperson, Chiagoziem Enoch, on Sunday.
DAILY POST reports that at a recent media briefing, Governor Otti lashed out at a journalist who demanded accountability on his reforms in the state.
Otti’s outburst has stirred reaction among Nigerians, including Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni, who condemned the action.
Reacting, Ikonne said the governor’s outburst was dictatorial and undeserving of his position.
According to him, the governor would have chosen the part of honor to reply to the journalist with verifiable data as an economist rather than resort to attack.
“Governance is not about rhetoric; it is about measurable outcomes.
“It is deeply troubling that instead of answering legitimate questions, Otti resorted to personal attacks.
“No leader who believes in democratic accountability should insult a journalist or anyone for asking questions.
“Governor Otti must apologize immediately,” he stated.
