The nationwide House of Representatives primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had not started in much of Adamawa State up to Saturday afternoon.

It was evident in locations across three wards in the metropolitan Yola North Local Government Area, visited by DAILY POST between 2 and 3 pm, that no election of any kind had commenced.

Neither polling officials nor voters could be seen, and it was highly likely that even if electoral officers arrived later, residents registered as APC members and entitled to vote would not respond.

Such was the unpromising atmosphere.

Outside the state capital, sources contacted in other parts of the state also indicated that no primary election was taking place.

This situation contrasts with assurances given earlier in the morning by a committee sent from Abuja to supervise the primary election in Adamawa State, which pledged to aspirants and the APC family in general that it would work diligently to ensure a credible exercise.

The committee, headed by Professor Ahmed Shehu, which admitted during its briefing that a particular electoral material had not arrived in Yola until Saturday morning, had yet to address the reality of non-voting at supposed polling venues at the time this report was concluded.
