No fewer than eight senatorial and House of Representatives aspirants in the just-concluded All Progressives Congress, APC, primaries in Plateau State have petitioned the party’s Appeal Committee over alleged irregularities and other electoral misconduct.

The aggrieved aspirants include Senator Diket Plang, Ambassador Chris Giwa, Barrister Beatrice Gyang Zi, SAN, Komsol, Dr Tongshinen John Gonzhak, Senator Istifanus Gyang, AVM Napoleon Bali (rtd), and Chief Ephraim Usman.

Speaking to journalists after submitting their petitions at the APC State Secretariat on Thursday, Senator Diket Plang, who spoke on behalf of the group, faulted the conduct of the primaries, describing them as lacking transparency and due process.

He alleged that in several areas across the state, elections were either not conducted, inconclusive, or improperly handled.

According to him, there were also claims of unfair allocation of votes, citing instances where results did not reflect actual membership strength in affected wards.

Plang further alleged that party agents were sidelined during the process and denied copies of the results, adding that outcomes were largely circulated through unofficial channels.

He, however, reaffirmed the loyalty of the petitioners to the All Progressives Congress and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, but insisted that due process must be upheld in the conduct of party primaries.

The aspirants urged the Appeal Committee to thoroughly review their complaints and ensure adherence to the party’s electoral guidelines.
