APC sole governorship aspirant in Rivers State, Ogundu Kingsley Chinda, has commended fellow aspirants who stepped down from the party’s governorship race, describing their decision as a demonstration of unity and commitment to the party’s success.
Chinda spoke on Thursday during the APC governorship primary held in his community, Ward 4 in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, where he described the party’s ongoing exercise as a transparent and democratic process aimed at producing a leader capable of serving the interests of Rivers people.
He expressed gratitude to leaders of the party for finding him worthy to emerge as the APC flagbearer for the 2027 governorship election.
Chinda assured party faithful and residents of the state that, if elected, he would lead with the fear of God, uphold the rule of law, and ensure accountability in governance.
The former Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, also expressed confidence in the future of the state, saying a peaceful, stable, and progressive Rivers State would emerge again.
He further praised party members for maintaining peace and order throughout the primary process.
Chinda arrived at his polling unit at about 12:23 p.m. to a massive crowd of supporters and party faithful.
The voting centre wore a carnival-like atmosphere, with live bands and traditional cultural groups entertaining attendees, while members of the Northern community were also visibly present in large numbers.
Chinda was accompanied by the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, now the APC candidate for the Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, alongside other APC stakeholders and party members from Abuja.
There was also heavy security presence in his Ward.
