Armed men suspected to be bandits have abducted six persons during a late-night attack on Unguwan Dutse in Wasagu Town, Wasagu District of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The development was contained in a post shared by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama via his X handle.

Security sources said the incident occurred on June 5 at about 00:40hrs when the assailants, reportedly armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the community from a forest axis believed to extend into neighbouring Zamfara State.

According to the report, the attackers whisked away six residents, including Lawali Kabir (34), Ubaida Jabir (3), Fatima Jabir (27), Mardiyya Fahad (28), and two children of Mardiyya Fahad.

Following a distress alert raised around 03:40hrs, a joint team of police tactical units, military personnel, and local vigilantes was immediately mobilised to the scene.

However, the attackers had already fled with their victims before the arrival of security operatives.

Security sources said coordinated search and rescue operations have since been intensified across surrounding forests and escape routes aimed at rescuing the victims and apprehending the perpetrators.

Authorities confirmed that efforts are ongoing, while additional patrols have been deployed to strengthen security presence in the area.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies.
