Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised six suspected terrorists, recovered weapons, destroyed camps and rescued a kidnapped minor during a military operation in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation was carried out by troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force under Operation FANSAN YAMMA in the Sububu Forest axis.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Media Information Officer of the operation, Captain David Adewusi, the troops first engaged the terrorists at Indulumu village, where two suspects were killed during a gun battle.
According to the statement, one AK-47 rifle was recovered from the scene.
The troops were said to have advanced to Ruduno village, where they encountered further resistance and neutralised four additional terrorists.
Items recovered during the operation included another AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and two motorcycles, which were destroyed by the troops.
The military also rescued a kidnapped underage girl, identified as Halira Ibrahim, during the operation.
Captain Adewusi said the troops further destroyed several terrorist camps and logistics structures located in Magaji, Galakaje, Filinga and Kukatara communities.
He added that the operation had disrupted the activities of the armed groups and degraded their operational capacity in the area.
