
The body of a 33-year-old unidentified man has been recovered from a well in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The victim’s remains was recovered from a well at a petroleum station located at Alakia/ Adegbayi area of Ibadan.
The operation was successfully carried out by the Oyo State Fire Service in conjunction with men from Federal Fire Service.
It was learnt that the man was trapped in the well on Sunday.
The body of the victim has been handed over to the policemen from Gbagi Police Division.
Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Hon Maroof Akinwande confirmed the incident.
He said the victim died after inhaling ammonia gas when trying to clean some debris inside the abandoned well.
He said, “Upon arrival, the officers quickly swung into action with necessary rescue equipment and recoverd the body and handed it over to a team of policemen from Gbagi Police Division, Ibadan.
“The rescue operation was jointly performed with Federal Fire Service Ibadan Command. The incident was as a result of inhalation of ammonia gas by the victim when trying to clean some debris inside the abandoned well.”
