
Suspected assailants have k!lled a Point of Sale (PoS) operator identified as Aliyu Vatsai Musa in Minna, Niger State. The brutal attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, March 9, 2026. It was gathered that the attackers allegedly forced their way into the victims residence. According to sources, the assailants ignored pleas and offers of money from the victim, reportedly telling him they had come solely to k!ll him. They were said to have st@bbed him in the stomach and attacked him multiple times with a machete. Neighbours who reportedly heard the victims cries for help rushed to the scene but were unable to apprehend the attackers. The assailants had already fled before help could arrive. The victim was later taken to a police station in Tudun-Wada before being rushed to the General Hospital in Minna, where he was confirmed d3ad. Confirming the incident, the elder brother of the deceased, Ibrahim Kolo, described the k!lling as tragic and expressed hope that those responsible would be brought to justice. He added that the victim was buried at a Muslim cemetery around 10 a.m. on Monday. The spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, also confirmed the attack, stating that police received a report of suspected homicide around the Mandela area of Minna at about 3 a.m. on March 9, 2026. He explained that a patrol team from the Tudun-Wada Division was dispatched to the scene but the suspects had already escaped before their arrival. According to the PPRO, Musa was attacked in his home by two suspects. A preliminary examination revealed injuries on his chest as well as machete cuts on his head. Abiodun added that nothing was stolen from the house during the incident. However, security operatives recovered exhibits including an iron cutter used to force entry through a window and a cutlass believed to have been used in the attack. The police spokesperson said the victim was taken to the General Hospital, Minna, where he was confirmed d3ad. He added that an investigation is ongoing and efforts are being intensified to apprehend the perpetrators.
