Atiku’s son Adamu dumps PDP

Adamu Atiku, the eldest son of former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party.Adamu announced his decision in a Facebook post on Thursday, March 11, stating that his journey with the party had come to an end. He thanked the PDP for the opportunities and experiences he gained during his years of membership but did not disclose which political party he intends to join next.The development comes weeks after political realignments in Adamawa State, where several commissioners left the PDP to join the All Progressives Congress alongside the state governor, Ahmadu Fintiri.Adamu had initially remained in the PDP when the wave of defections occurred last month, drawing public attention at the time. He had served as Commissioner for Works under Fintiri since the governor assumed office in 2019.In a resignation letter addressed to the PDP chairman of Jada Ward 1, Adamu formally ended his membership of the party with immediate effect. The letter, dated March 4, 2026, did not provide any reason for his departure.
