Bandits murder Plateau village head few days after abduction

The village head of Shuwaka in Garga, Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State, Mallam Hudu Barau, has been killed by bandits a few days after he was kidnapped.
The Kanam Development Association (KADA) confirmed the sad news in a statement on Monday signed by its chairman, Shehu Kanam, and secretary, Barr. Garba Aliyu.

According to them, Barau was abducted six days ago and later found dead in Wanka Forest.

They described the killing as another painful reminder of the insecurity that continues to threaten lives in their communities.

KADA expressed frustration that, despite repeated cries for help, both state and federal authorities have failed to take firm action to end the constant abductions and killings.

“The people of Garga and nearby villages live in fear every day. Our political leaders must act now to secure their people,” the group said.

The association urged Governor Caleb Mutfwang to immediately declare a state of emergency in the community and send enough security forces to stop the attacks.

They also accused elected representatives from the area of not doing enough to protect their people from bandits.

KADA warned that the silence of leaders in the face of these atrocities would no longer be tolerated. “Government must act now to restore peace and stability to our community. We stand with the family of the late Sarkin Shuwaka and will keep fighting for justice and safety for our people,” the statement added.
