Bauchi Gov’s son begs father to pay retirees gratuities

Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed, the son of Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has appealed to his father to intensify efforts to pay outstanding gratuities to retirees in the state to alleviate their financial burdens.

Shamsuddeen made the appeal in a Facebook post titled, “Bridging the Gap: A Call for a Human-Capital Focused Policy.”

In the post, the governor’s son acknowledged the achievement of his father’s administration in infrastructure development over the past seven years.

According to him, the construction of roads, schools and hospitals has transformed the landscape of Bauchi State and will be remembered by future generations.

He, however, outlined the plight of families of retirees from the state civil service, who are waiting for the payment of their gratuities, stressing that the delay had compounded the hardship faced by many households.

“The prevailing sentiment on the ground is that while infrastructure is vital, it does not alleviate the immediate economic hardship, the struggle for daily sustenance, or the pain of families still awaiting civil service gratuities, hence, the need to pay retirees’ gratuities,” he said.
