BREAKING: INEC declares Gov Oyebanji as winner of Ekiti governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election held on Saturday.

Oyebanji polled a total of 319,224 votes to defeat his closest rival, Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 40,543 votes. Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came third with 12,872 votes.

Announcing the result on Sunday morning, the State Returning Officer, Adenike Oladiji, declared Oyebanji duly elected after he satisfied all legal requirements and recorded the highest number of votes.

Oyebanji’s victory marks a historic achievement as he becomes the first sitting governor in Ekiti State to win a re-election bid.
