Bring up your evidence – Gwarzo challenges Kano govt on funds diversion allegation

The governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has challenged the Kano State Government to provide evidence to support allegations that he diverted local government funds through his son.

Gwarzo, a former Deputy Governor of the state, was reacting to claims reportedly made by the spokesperson to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, who alleged that funds from local government councils were channelled to him through his son, Mujahid.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Gwarzo described the allegation as false and an attempt to damage his reputation.

“The allegations are mere figments of the Governor’s imagination, lacking any basis,” the statement said.

He challenged the accuser to present proof to back the claims.

“We therefore categorically challenge the accuser to provide credible and verifiable evidence to substantiate these callous claims. Mere accusations, no matter how often repeated in the media, do not amount to proof,” he added.

Gwarzo maintained that he has always upheld transparency and accountability throughout his years in public service.

According to him, the allegation is baseless, outrageous, and a ridiculous attempt to tarnish his hard-earned integrity.

He also expressed confidence that the truth would eventually come out and urged the public to ignore the claims.
