
As directed by President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila have departed Abuja for London, United Kingdom to accompany the remains of former President Mohammadu Buhari back to Nigeria.
DAILY POST reports that Buhari died on Sunday in London at approximately 4:30 pm after battling an undisclosed ailment.
His remains are expected to be interred on Monday (today) at his home town, Daura in Katsina State.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Mr Stanley Nkwocha said in a terse statement on Sunday night that Shettima and Gbajabiamila have departed for London.
Buhari, who died at the age of 82, served as Nigeria’s democratically-elected president eight years from 2015 to 2023.
He also served as Military Head of State between January 1984 and August 1985.
