A mother looking for a math tutor for her daughter has revealed the statement a Nigerian man made during an interview that prevented her from employing him for her daughter. The mother, who lives in Canada, said the Nigerian man was impressive during his interview and everything sounded good. However, when it was time to negotiate payment, he requested to be paid in US dollars. The mum said this was a red flag for her, that a man who lives in Nigeria, where naira is the legal tender, would ask her,who lives in Canada and uses Canadian dollars, to pay in US dollars. She wrote: "I had an interesting interview today. "I spoke with a gentleman from Nigeria whom I wanted to hire to tutor my daughter in advanced math. Shes in high school and preparing for an engineering pathway to university. "As we talked, I asked about his education and career. He mentioned several prominent people in society that he currently works with I was impressed. Then he added, 'the list goes on,' referring to his achievements. "Everything sounded good until we discussed payment. "He told me he wanted to be paid in USD U.S. dollars. I was puzzled. I dont live in the United States, so why should I pay in USD? "He started stammering. I smiled and said, 'Ill get back to you.'"
