Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has reignited the long-running “Big 3” debate in Afrobeats, insisting that the genre’s global dominance can no longer be credited to just three artists.
In a recent interview recorded inside a car on Sunday, October 19, 2025, the rapper confidently stated that Afrobeats has evolved into a “Big 7.”
According to him, the list now includes Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Olamide, Tems, Rema, and Asake, a mix of veterans and new-generation stars who have shaped the sound and reach of African music across the world.
“I’d like to make a case for the Big 3, I think it’s Big 7,” Odumodublvck said in the viral clip, naming each artist with conviction.
For years, Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy have carried the “Big 3” tag as Afrobeats’ global frontrunners, with record-breaking albums, sold-out stadium tours, and international recognition. But Odumodublvck’s expanded list acknowledges the massive influence of Olamide, a street legend and mentor to many, alongside the new wave of stars like Tems, Rema, and Asake, whose global success stories have redefined the boundaries of African music.
Tems’ chart-topping collaborations and Grammy win have made her one of Nigeria’s biggest exports, while Rema’s Calm Down continues to shatter international streaming records. Asake, on the other hand, has dominated both local and global charts with his signature Fuji-infused Afrobeats sound.
Odumodublvck’s bold statement has since sparked lively conversations online, with fans debating who truly deserves a spot in the newly coined “Big 7.”
As Afrobeats continues to evolve and expand its global footprint, Odumodublvck’s declaration reflects a larger truth, the movement has grown far beyond three names, with multiple artists now pushing its legacy into new territories.
