A Kaduna Magistrates Court, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of two men, Danladi Usman, 23 and Nasir Ahmed, 26, in a correctional facility over alleged kidnapping. The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, are facing trial over alleged conspiracy and kidnapping. The Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Emmanuel, who did not take the defendants plea because his court lacked jurisdiction, ordered their remand in the correctional centre. He directed the police to return the case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice. Emmauel subsequently adjourned the matter until July 26 for mention. Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Chidi Leo told the court that the defendants conspired together with one other at large, to commit the offence of kidnapping. Leo said that the defendants on May 24, at about 6:30 p.m., kidnapped two children from their parents house at Millennium City Kaduna for the purpose of collecting ransom. He said that some neighbours alerted the police to the activities of the defendants after which they were arrested and the abducted children rescued. The offences, the prosecutor said, contravened Section 247 of the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2020 (as amended). The section stipulates d3ath penalty if found guilty. The post Court remands two men for allegedly kidnapping children in Kaduna appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
