Cristiano Ronaldo breaks silence on his international career with Portugal

Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken publicly about his future with the Portugal national team following their elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting he will take time before making any decision on his international career.

Portugal's World Cup campaign came to an end after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Spain in the Round of 16, prompting fresh speculation over whether the legendary forward had played his final match for his country. Speaking to reporters after the game, Ronaldo admitted the result was difficult to accept but expressed pride in the effort shown by both himself and his teammates.

"I'm sad to leave the World Cup like this, but I gave everything. I did my best and leave with a clear conscience."

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner confirmed that the 2026 tournament was his final FIFA World Cup but stressed that he is not ready to make an immediate decision regarding his future with Portugal.
