Crystal Palace claimed their first European title after edging Rayo Vallecano 1-0 in the final of the 2025/26 UEFA Europa Conference League played in Leipzig on Wednesday.
Jean-Philippe Mateta emerged the hero for Crystal Palace, scoring the decisive goal early in the second half to hand the Premier League side a historic continental triumph.
After a tightly contested first half ended without a goal, Mateta reacted quickest in the 51st minute, turning home from close range after an initial effort had been pushed into his path.

The strike marked his 16th goal of the campaign and capped another impressive outing for the forward.
The victory also added another trophy to the growing success of manager Oliver Glasner, who is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.
Under Glasner, Crystal Palace have now lifted three trophies, including the FA Cup in 2025 and the Community Shield earlier this season.
The Austrian tactician guided Palace to victories over Manchester City in the FA Cup final and Liverpool in the Community Shield.
