Davido clears the air on viral Warri “slap” video

3 hours ago 1

Afrobeats superstar Davido has debunked viral claims that he was slapped while attending a show in Warri, Delta State.

A video shared by a media outlet on X showed the singer walking with his security team when a hand appeared to hit the back of his head. The blogger captioned the clip as “Davido slapped in Warri,” sparking speculation and debate online.

Responding directly, Davido slammed the report, calling the blogger a “mumu” and a heartless person for spreading false information. He clarified that it was not a random attack, but rather his own security man who accidentally brushed his head in the crowd.

Mumu that was my security .. hit me by mistake .. saddist https://t.co/v967ZZ3V2s

Fans had mixed reactions to the explanation. While some were relieved, others expressed concern about the efficiency of his security team. They warned that if it had been a weapon, the outcome could have been far more serious. A few also pointed to past incidents involving artists like 2Baba and P-Square in Warri, advising Davido’s team to stay on higher alert.

This isn’t the first time Davido’s security detail has been criticized. Just hours before the Warri clip emerged, another video showed the singer being whisked off stage after a brief scuffle with a fan. Months earlier, a similar incident occurred when a woman attempted to reach Davido in public, leaving many questioning his team’s effectiveness.

Away from the controversy, Davido recently shared a softer side during an interview. The father of twins said money and material possessions are not his top priority. Instead, he values simple acts of care, like being asked “How are you?”, a question he believes goes a long way in showing genuine concern.
