Guinness World Record honours Premier League player

Bournemouth forward Justin Kluivert has been presented with his official Guinness World Record certificate for scoring a hat-trick of penalties in the Premier League.

Kluivert wrote his name into football history after becoming the first player in Premier League history to score a hat-trick of penalties in a single match. The Dutchman achieved the feat in Bournemouth’s 4-2 win over Wolves in November 2024, breaking a record that had stood in English top-flight football since 1957.

Kluivert has also reached another remarkable milestone scoring in each of Europe’s six major leagues: England, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, and the Netherlands. The award was given to him before kick-off in the Cherries' 2-1 win over Brighton on Saturday. However, Kluivert came off the bench at the weekend as he has fallen down the pecking order when it comes to team selection.

Kluivert's team-mate Evanilson, also became the first player in the English top flight to win three penalties in a single game.

It is the first instance of a player scoring three in the same match since Ken Barnes for Manchester City against Everton in 1957, making Kluivert the only man in the Premier League to achieve this feat.
