The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has called on Nigerians to embrace sacrifice and unity as the country works towards progress ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a goodwill message to mark the Eid al-Kabir celebration, Akpabio said the country is at a critical stage where citizens must come together and make collective efforts towards national development.
He noted that the values behind the festival, especially sacrifice, obedience and compassion, are what Nigeria needs to overcome its current challenges.
“Eid el-Kabir reminds us of the faith, obedience and sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim. These are the values we must reflect in our lives as a nation,” he said.
Akpabio stressed that Nigerians must put aside their differences and work together, regardless of religion or ethnicity.
“Nigeria needs sacrifice, unity and a sense of national purpose if we are to move forward,” he added.
He said the country is going through a difficult period that requires patience and understanding from citizens, noting that the sacrifices made today will shape the future of the nation.
According to him, “the sacrifices we make now will determine the kind of Nigeria we leave behind for the next generation.”
The Senate President also urged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for peace, security and economic stability in the country.
He called on citizens to remember members of the armed forces who are fighting insecurity, as well as farmers who are working to ensure food production despite challenges.
Akpabio further linked the message of Eid to the policies of the current administration, saying the Renewed Hope Agenda is built on collective effort and long-term commitment.
He prayed for God’s guidance for the country’s leaders and asked for healing and unity across the nation.
Akpabio concluded by wishing Muslims in Nigeria and around the world a peaceful and joyful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
